Held on 2-3 May 2017 at London's
Olympia, the Retail Digital Signage Expo (RDSE),
displayed an impressive range of ideas and solutions for
the retail industry. Amongst these were shopfitters,
lighting solutions, interactive touch screens for
customer interaction and of course digital signage
displays screens, media players and digital signage
software for promoting goods and services to shoppers.
Olympia was also host to the Retail Design Expo (RDE)
and the Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE), allowing
visitors to see a wide spectrum of retail solutions.
I was attracted to their stand by the content on the display screens, and although the company does not create content there are signage software solutions on the market that allow customers to create their own content presentations. Many graphic design companies now offer design services for the digital markets.
Larger than life display screens attracted me to the Spectra Displays stand, a UK manufacturer specialising in digital retail displays for both indoor and outdoor applications. Digital LED window displays help to attract and engage more of retail customers target shoppers, whilst the transparent LED screens attract shoppers as they display digital advertising or product information on the screen, yet the phyiscal product, for example, jewellery or a pair of killer high heel shoes, can be viewed through the screen. The concept itself attracts shoppers, thereby helping to boost retail sales.
I first viewed a Panasonic Space
Player at the Technology Exposed event at Mercedes
Benz World last September, where the Space Player
projected images and messages onto walls, for
example, a 'Will you marry me' message on a
restaurant wall for a couple's engagement dinner.
Here at RDSE, they were displaying images onto a
watch, which would, I'm sure, capture the
imagination of jewellers shop customers. Just a
couple of the ways that the Panasonic Space Player
can be used in the retail and leisure sectors.
